Work from Bartlett School of Architecture is insane. I hate them because there work is soooooo much better than mine and they’re year one…

really cool use of stop-motion though!

Canary Wharf Station by Norman Foster, Part of a series by the BBC called Dreamspaces.

Benjamin Zander has two infectious passions: classical music, and helping us all realize our untapped love for it — and by extension, our untapped love for all new possibilities, new experiences, new connections.

At our very first introductory lecture in our first year of archi school, one of our tutors showed this video to us, and told us to go back to it when we’re feeling discouraged.

Things to listen to while doing work: Buckminister Fuller - Everything I know

During the last two weeks of January 1975 Buckminster Fuller gave an extraordinary series of lectures concerning his entire life’s work. These thinking out loud lectures span 42 hours and examine in depth all of Fuller’s major inventions and discoveries.

Chris Burden’s kinetic sculpture: Metropolis II is an intense and a complex kinetic sculpture, modeled after a fast paced, frenetic modern city. Steel beams form an eclectic grid interwoven with an elaborate system of 18 roadways, including one 6 lane freeway, and HO scale train tracks. Miniature cars speed through the city at 240 scale miles per hour; every hour, the equivalent of approximately 100,000 cars circulate through the dense network of buildings. According to Burden, “The noise, the continuous flow of the trains, and the speeding toy cars, produces in the viewer the stress of living in a dynamic, active and bustling 21st Century city.”

Wow. This is so beautiful and thought-provoking. Would love to be able to see this in person.

“How it would be, if a house was dreaming”

The conception of this project consistently derives from its underlying architecture - the theoretic conception and visual pattern of the Hamburg Kunsthalle. The Basic idea of narration was to dissolve and break through the strict architecture of O. M. Ungers “Galerie der Gegenwart”. Resultant permeability of the solid facade uncovers different interpretations of conception, geometry and aesthetics expressed through graphics and movement. A situation of reflexivity evolves - describing the constitution and spacious perception of this location by means of the building itself.

This was the second condominium built in Singapore, called Futura. I cannot even begin to express how much I love 1960s architecture.

I did a blog post on 1960s architecture and interiors last July. Here’s the link if you’d like to read it!

Design: e2Deeper Shade of Green

We watched this in lecture today. It talks about sustainable architecture, featuring Ken Yeang, William Mcdonough and Werner Sobek. I found it pretty inspiring, and absolutely loved the cinematography. Also it’s narrated by Brad Pitt, if that would sway you to spare a few moments to watch this.
