Brenda and Robert Vale were down at NUS last Thursday, giving a talk about sustainability and the role of the architect in contributing to the field. For the uninitiated, Prof. Brenda Vale and Dr. Robert Vale were two of the pioneers in sustainable architecture, way before sustainability even became a thing. Some may recognize their seminal work, “The Autonomous House” published in 1975, which was a manifesto and a technical guide for low-impact, environmentally-friendly housing.
